Pig Ate My Pizza – Brand Revival & Restaurant Relaunch

Role: Lead Designer / Creative Direction
Project Type: Restaurant Rebranding, Visual Identity, Environmental Graphics, Digital Design

Overview:
Pig Ate My Pizza, a cult-favorite pizza concept in Minnesota, had been transformed into a brewpub during the pandemic. Three years later, the brand was ready to make its triumphant return—with a fresh identity, a second location, and a renewed focus on chef-driven pizzas and in-house craft beer from Nouvelle Brewing. My role was to lead the full visual relaunch of the Pig Ate My Pizza brand across print, digital, and environmental applications.

Scope of Work:

  • Developed a refreshed brand identity that honored the playful irreverence of the original while giving it new energy for multiple locations

  • Designed new logos, type treatments, and visual systems adaptable for both Robbinsdale and Bloomington locations

  • Created menu designs, signage, and packaging elements that balanced bold visuals with readability and personality

  • Collaborated with interior designers and leadership to align environmental branding with the in-store experience

  • Wrote and designed the voice-forward website, incorporating SEO and a strong sense of brand personality

  • Supported launch marketing efforts with social templates, announcement graphics, and event materials

Challenges & Solutions:
One of the key challenges was blending the legacy of the original brand with the evolved identity of Nouvelle Brewing, which now operated within the Robbinsdale location. The solution involved developing a flexible design system that gave Pig Ate My Pizza its own voice while clearly communicating its connection to Nouvelle as its beer program.

Results:
The rebrand launched to an enthusiastic reception, with strong local media pickup and early sell-out events. The updated visual identity captured the energy and chef-forward creativity of the concept while setting a solid foundation for expansion. The new branding gave both new and returning guests a clear sense of what Pig Ate My Pizza is: bold, fun, and unlike any other pizza place around.
