Pig Ate My Pizza- Brand Revival

Role: Creative Direction + Visual Identity, Digital & Environmental Design
Project Type:
Restaurant Rebranding, Visual Identity, Environmental Graphics, Digital Design

The Problem
Pig Ate My Pizza was a cult-favorite Minnesota pizza concept that had pivoted to a brewpub during the pandemic. Three years later it was ready to come back — with a second location, a renewed focus on chef-driven pizza, and an in-house craft beer program through Nouvelle Brewing. The brand needed a full visual relaunch that honored what people loved about the original while building something bold enough to grow on.

The Approach

The central creative challenge was more delicate than a typical rebrand. Nouvelle Brewing had just gone through its own redesign a year prior, so we weren't starting from scratch with either brand — we had to be smart about how they coexisted. The solution was a flexible design system that gave Pig Ate My Pizza its own loud, irreverent voice while deliberately threading Nouvelle through it. Two brands, one system, neither one compromised.

The Creative Decisions
We kept Nouvelle's green and made sure beer iconography had a real presence throughout the Pig Ate My Pizza system — not as an afterthought, but as a design decision that made the connection feel intentional. From there, everything was built to flex: logos, type treatments, menus, signage, packaging, and environmental graphics that worked across both the Robbinsdale and Bloomington locations. The website was written and designed to lead with personality, with SEO built in from the start.

The Outcome

The rebrand launched to a packed house and strong local media coverage, with early events selling out fast. Returning guests recognized the spirit of the original. New guests understood immediately what kind of place this was. Bold, chef-driven, and unlike anything else around. The system we built gave both brands a foundation to grow on together.
